Triple killing in Old Town // VA official, 2 women stabbed; tenant held

A high-level Veterans Administration official and two apartmentmanagers were stabbed to death Thursday in an Old Town apartmentcomplex by a tenant who had been targeted for eviction, police said.

The VA official's daughter, a medical student who was in Chicagolooking for an apartment, administered CPR to her father, apsychiatrist, as he lay dying in the Cobbler Square Apartments, 1350N. Wells.

Slain were Dr. Francis E. Conrad, 51, of Arlington, Va.;Cynthia Graeber, 29, resident manager of the Cobbler Square complex,and Alice Wendt, 37, of 2150 N. Lincoln Park West, assistant manager.
